Really? Bleach? “But she’s got sensitive skin, wouldn’t that aggravate it?”  Many parents ask this question – we did too!

After further research, however, we found that more and more dermatologists and doctors recommend trying a bleach bath on an occasional basis to their patients suffering from eczema. It is a diluted solution: 1 tsp for every gallon of water as recommended by the National Eczema Association below. The bleach kills the bacteria – so you see less breakouts or flare ups, leading to less itchy skin and relief.

Bubble Podz & Bath

Of course, an occasional bleach bath is just part of a process of managing eczema. Daily bathing also needs to be gentle and non-irritating. TruKid Eczema Care Bubble Podz, with soothing oatmeal, moisturizing allantoin, and lots of long-lasting bubbles, makes soaking and bathing a fun, enjoyable time!  Another key component is to create a moisture barrier,  ensuring that the skin cells are sufficiently “plumped”; we want to avoid moisture lost, which will turn to dry, irritated, and inflamed skin. Apply your eczema cream / lotion / ointment twice a day (we use TruKid Eczema Super Cream – unscented).   Note on Bleach Baths: **Avoid contact with eyes. **Many parents have joined the bleach bath bandwagon and swear that it works effectively for their kids as a part of their eczema treatment. Please consult your doctor or dermatologist before trying this at home. Join the discussion and share your story, use hashtag #eczema
